Wow!

After several weeks of so-so movies, “Prometheus” broke the streak providing us with an absolutely thrilling two hours.  I always say that when you go to the movies, and ALL your troubles are totally forgotten…THAT is s great movie.

“Prometheus” is a GREAT movie.

Two scientists, Noomi Rapace and Logan Marshall-Green, put together the fact that cave drawings from around the world, from 35,000 or more years ago, all have a similar drawing of a large being pointing at what looks like a planetary system.  They theorize that this is an invitation for Earthlings to visit.

In 2089…a spaceship from Earth leaves on a 2.5 year voyage to visit that planetary system.  What they hope to find are the answers to some of mankind’s biggest questions:  What happens after we die?, Is there a God?, How were we created?

What they find is not what they wanted:  That we were created by these alien beings (ostensibly because they could create us), and, before they could destroy us….something destroyed them.  But why did they create us, then want to destroy us?  (another burning question…)

Unfortunately, that something has been re-awakened and now is destroying the visitors, and worse….

An outstanding cast all around, but, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender (as a totally creepy android, with Data-like emotions) , and Charlize Theron (as the leader of the expedition) are STUNNINGLY effective.

One f-word, but, the R rating probably comes from the gore and extreme violence.  Not for small kids….if you bring them to see this, you are a bad parent.  Teens would like it…..but they do not ponder the big questions, so they may not understand the overarching need to find out the answers.

A must see movie!  The “Alien” we know and love pops out at the end….very cool.     V-E-R-Y     S-C-A-R-Y

For more information go to IMDb.  We watched this at the Tracy, CA CineMark where our poster is STILL UP!  (But it will be coming down soon…we are told).
