After the events of “Avengers” Endgame”, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is back in high school with his old friends, MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), who were, luckily, snapped as well (they call it “blipped” in this movie).
Peter misses Iron Man more than anything, but, he is also REALLY looking forward to a class trip to Europe where he has a plan to tell MJ how much he cares for her.
Well….as Steinbeck says: “The best laid plans of mice and men, oft go astray”
A water monster appears in Venice. Spider-Man would fight it, but, he left his suit in the hotel room. Oooops.
Luckily, a mystery super-hero appears and that mystery person destroys this “Elemental”. That super-hero is Quentin Beck (Mysterio) played by Jake Gyllenhaal.
Peter likes him immediately (he is still missing Iron Man) and gives him the gift of “Edith” that Iron Man entrusted to him. After all….Peter is only 16 years old and all he wants to do is enjoy the class trip, and, to tell MJ how he feels (and maybe get a kiss).
He is more than happy to turn over super hero duties to someone else. and he trusts Mysterio…..
To see what happens, you will have to see the movie. 😉
“Spider-Man: Far From Home” is a terrific follow-up to the grim “Infinity War” and “Endgame”. It is funny (VERY funny in parts), heartwarming, and action packed….just what you would expect from Marvel. But……
You have to stay all the way thru the credits. The first credit scene is meh as the world finds out Peter Parker is Spider-Man….ho hum. BUT……
The second scene, at the very end of the credits, foretells the Marvel Universe to come (that universe without Iron Man, Capt. America, Vision, and, more importantly (to me)……Black Widow).
