On Saturday Sept 18, 2010, 4 wonderful Tracy kids lost their lives in a senseless automobile accident.

One was our lovely, intelligent friend, Carol Phan.

In her honor, ForCarol.com was founded to help Tracy, CA residents by:

1. Providing a yearly $1,000 college scholarship to a Tracy High IB / Ag Sci scholar with a 3.5 GPA or above and has been accepted to a 4 year college or university.

2. Donating to Tracy, CA teachers in Carol’s memory: Including books, classroom supplies, STEM / STEAM stuff, and other supplies (mini-whiteboards, computers, etc) as needed.

3. NEW Encouraging literacy in Tracy, CA by dropping books off around town for people to pick up and read. (Books courtesy of TracyReaderDad.com and TateandCole.org )

4. Helping to raise awareness of unsafe teen driving.

5. Helping to raise awareness of the need for parents to enforce curfews.

This site is dedicated to stopping teen speeding, or other unsafe practices when getting behind the wheel (which can be a LETHAL weapon, as we have just found out).  What else?  Texting, drinking we all know, turning around to talk with the folks in the back seat, not wearing your seat belts, sex while driving….more?

Update 5 months later:  I want this site to be fun.  Fun to read, fun to watch movie trailers and get movie reviews. I will include all sorts of topics, but, will try to keep it lite and happy.  BUT the message will always be there:  Drive Safe!  Never Forget.  Maybe the subliminal message will sink in better than the in-your-face message that teens rebel against.  Oh yeah…parents YOU need to ENFORCE curfews.

Remember this:  Would you rather fight with your teen….or bury them?

Join the effort…help us raise awareness and possibly develop technology (see our Autonomous Cars category) to allow the car to stop teens from speeding (actually some pretty cool technological challenges there….any one of you up to a good challenge?), encourage parents to remain engaged and setting rules (sorry kids…we gotta do it) past age 20 (or in my daughters case 35….but don’t tell her).

We love you Carol…

Drive Safe!  Never Forget.

  • Wow, all i did was type in chillaberries into google images and i found this..
I saw a picture of four people posing in front of what i recognized as the THS bleachers (THS Bulldogs Represent! XD) I never heard about this 😦 She looks so happy in all the pictures, looks like a really nice person. Im sorry. Soon I am going to start driving. I will definitaly keep this in mind. ❤ Nice website btw. 😉

    • I am glad you found this website, but, sad how quickly the deaths of four great kids is forgotten. Carol was a normal teenager, loved Tracy High, and we miss her soooo much.

Tell all your Facebook friends about our scholarships and movie reviews.

  • I read about your nonprofit through LinkedIn. I work with fundraisers. It’s good that you have your 501c3 status. My recommendation is to solicit corporate/business donations. It will take effort, & hopefully some good connections, but in the long run you can get good consistent donors.Btw, Prof. Sebastian Thrun has been working for years on developing systems to make driving safer. He’s currently involved with the Google driverless car. Good luck. Lin

  • Did they ever release the cause of the accident. There was so much speculation about alcohol and speed, I’m just curious as to what happened.

    • Yes, the final police and autopsy reports were sent out. So there is NO MORE confusion: The police report stated that there was NO Alcohol and NO drugs in ANY of the kid’s blood. But, those of us who knew Carol (and those were actually at the party, not the idiots who claimed to be there) already knew this.

    • Ah…speed. Yes they were speeding. They were going pretty damn fast (there was a witness). The driver lost control flipped end-over-end (at least once) and then rolled maybe 6 times (if I looked at the drawing correctly) before ending up in the canal upside down. Three of the kids did NOT have seat belts on. I was really SURPRISED at that…

  • Sylvia Venegas Bittick

Hi mike. you had offered us to put some pictures of Robert and Kassy Bittick on your website. We tried but we weren’t able to figure out how to upload the photos to your website.

    Thank you.

  • Chau (Carol’s Mother) is my Mother’s really close friend. I used to be so close to her when we were younger but Carol and I lost contact for about a few years. I came out to her vigil and it broke my heart. She was such a talented young lady. I will truly miss her.
