Movie Review: “Haunted Mansion”

A Doctor, Gabbie (Rosario Dawson), and her son, Travis (Chase Dillon), are moving to a new home.

Unfortunately, that new home is not what they expected and after a run-in with several ghosts, they leave.

Smart move!

Except that a few ghosts hid in their car and forced them to return.

Yikes!

Stuck in the house, Gabbie puts together a dream team to help her defeat the ghosts (not telling them that once they step into the mansion, they are there…..forever!):

A tour guide mourning his late wife, Ben (LaKeith Stanfield), who is an astro-physicist and designer of a camera / lens system that can see spectral beings, a Priest, Father Kent (Owen Wilson), who promises to do an exorsicsm, a Medium, Harriet (Tiffany Haddish), who will talk to the ghosts, and a History Professor, Bruce (Danny DeVito), who knows the history of this mansion.

Travis, Gabbie, Father Kent, Harriet, Ben, Bruce

There are 999 ghosts currently residing in the mansion, including Madame Leota (Jamie Lee Curtis) in her crystal ball, and only one more WILLING soul is needed to free the ghosts from their evil tormentor, Crump (Jared Leto).

Who is that last remaining, willing, soul?

“Haunted Mansion” is spooky, scary, great fun as ghosts and people clash and……

We loved it!

We also loved the homages to the Disney’s Haunted Mansion and ride. The music alone brings you back to when you were a kid (or at least younger, with kids!). So cool. 🙂
