Movie Review: “Barbie”

Everything is perfect in Barbieland.

Barbie (Margot Robbie) has the perfect life.

She wakes up to a wonderful pink world, food magically falls onto her plate, her feet fit perfectly into her high heels, she has lots of friends and a guy who loves her, Ken (Ryan Gosling)

She is content knowing that this perfect life will last forever and ever…..

Then…..that night at her perfect party…..Barbie asks everyone if they ever thought about dying?

WTF?

Not only that…..her heels touch the ground, food misses her plate, and then….she has bumps on her thighs that Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) tells her is CELLULITE!!!

Weird Barbie also tells her that she is taking on the characteristics and thoughts of her owner in the “real world” (Gloria (America Ferrera) and the only way to reverse this trend is to visit her!

Road trip to the real world for Barbie and…..Ken!

“Barbie” is a fun, weird, thought provoking, colorful movie about: LIFE….and DEATH.

It’s true…..despite the happiness, perfection, and beautiful colors….the moral I took from the movie and Ruth (Rhea Perlman)……is rather dark:

You do the best you can in an imperfect world…..then you die. But, your ideas live forever.
