Movie Review: “Blue Beetle”

Home from college where he earned a pre-law degree at Gotham Law, Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) finds that his family is hurting financially.

Vowing the make enough money so the family can live in a mansion, Jaime, and his sister, Milagro (Belissa Escobedo), start jobs at a Kord Insustries Hotel, where…..they both are promptly fired by the CEO of Kord, Victoria Kord (Susan Sarandon).

Damn.

Meanwhile, step-daughter to Victoria, Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine), wants to grab the blue beetle scarab that Victoria has in the lab ready to implant in someone to, well…..rule the world.

Not agreeing with Victoria, Jenny grabs the scarab, puts it in a fast food container, and starts walking out the door…….when the alarms go off and…..Jenny hands the container to Jaime.

“Don’t open it, but protect it with your life” she admonished.

At home, Jamie opens it and…….

“Blue Beetle” is a fun, action packed, super-hero movie much like Venom. It is funny, heartwarming, and shocking as Uncle Rudy (George Lopez) and Nana (Adriana Barraza) both surprise us……and kick ass.
