Movie Review: “Leo”

Classroom pets, Leo the lizard (Adam Sandler) and Squirtle the turtle (Bill Burr) have been in the same 5th grade classroom since 1949.

Leo just overheard a parent visiting the classroom telling another parent that his species of lizards live for 75 years. Calculating his age as 74, thanks to help from a 2nd grade classroom pet, Leo decides that, with only one year to live…..he needs to escape and see the world.

But how does he do that?

Luckily, the 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Salinas (Allison Strong), is going on maternity leave and a substitute teacher will be taking over her class (I’ve been there, done that as a sub).

The sub, Ms. Malkin (Cecily Strong), is very much older and requires one student on Friday to take one of the pets home with them.

Leo thinks his time to escape is near…..until he talks to the students, gives them all advice, and finds that he loves them….and they him.

Squirtle, Leo

Then…..

Oh, to see what happens you can STREAM this movie on Netflix.

“Leo” is a fun kids movie that is about an old lizard giving advice to 10 year old kids who are struggling with one issue or another…..and finding love in the process. And yes…..it’s an Adam Sandler (and family) movie, so it can get weird at times!

If you read this blog, you know that we loooove Adam Sandler….

And guess what? The Principal is…….are you ready?……Rob Schneider! Yippee. 🙂
