
Franny (Anne Hathaway) was working on her PhD thesis in Morocco when her mother, Karen (Mary Steenburgen), called to tell her that her brother, Henry (Ben Rosenfield), was in a coma in the hospital.
She needs to come home.
Sitting with the comatose Henry, Franny regretted their last argument 6 months ago about him pursuing music while dropping out of college.
Reading his notebook, Franny decided to follow his notes, one of which led her to his favorite musician, James Forester (Johnny Flynn). Attending one of James’s concerts….she told him about her brother and gave him a CD with Henry’s latest song.

“Song One” is an excellent, if dark and somber, indie with an all star cast, and great music, where tragedy leads to renewal and, ultimately, love and respect.
