Widower Frank Fisher (Nick Offerman) has kept his love of music alive by having weekly jam sessions with his teenage daughter, Sam (Kiersey Clemons), and, for the past 17 years, running his vinyl record store.
Sam is about to leave New York City for UCLA Med School and the jam sessions mean the world to Frank, even though Sam resists because she needs to study and hang with her girlfriend, Rose (Sasha Lane).
Unfortunately, the rent for the store has risen to the point where Frank has decided to close it and work in a cheese shop.
One song, written by Sam, was recorded by the father / daughter duo (they are not a band) over several jam sessions and one night, on a lark, Frank uploaded it to Spotify.

“Hearts Beat Loud” is an excellent, heartwarming, indie with a great cast and great music.
