
A divorced English teacher, Tom (Steve Coogan), is working his way around the globe in a southernly direction.
This year, 1976, he has chosen to teach in politically unstable Argentina.
Starting the year, and after a military coup, Tom decides to head to Uruguay for a week or so to let the situation in Argentina settle down a bit.
While in Uruguay, Tom and his date come across an oil spill, and a penguin that is barely alive.
He and his date take the penguin, clean it up in the hotel bathtub, and…..

“The Penquin Lessons” is an excellent, heartwarming, movie with a great cast featuring Juan Salvador (as the penguin). The movie is based on a memoir written by English teacher, Tom Michell.
