Recent college graduate, Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), with a degree in journalism and an offer to law school at Stanford, applies for an assistant position at the high powered fashion magazine, Runway.
Arriving for the interview, Andy is wearing her best clothes, but is nevertheless deemed frumpy and….fat….by employees Emily (Emily Blunt) and Nigel (Stanley Tucci).
But, v-e-r-y demanding, Editor in Chief, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), decides to take a chance on Andy.
