“Pirates of the Caribbean – On Stranger Tides” Movie Review
(fun action, but…the “magic” is fading)
Johnny Depp still rocks as Captain Jack Sparrow, but, other than Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) and Gibbs (Kevin McNally) returning, I REALLY missed the other characters we have come to know and love.
Penelope Cruz is beautiful (as are the VERY dangerous Mermaids), but, sorry to say, Cruz just does not have what Keira Knightley had…that spark, that twinkle, that smile, that sexiness. Ditto with the new guy who falls in love with a Mermaid…Orlando Bloom had WAY more character.
BUT….it IS a FUN movie. So take my complaints, throw them out the window, and go see the movie. You will have fun (although at one point I did have to wake Lori up).
I love the part where Keith Richards says “Does this face look like I found the Fountain of Youth”, and Depp says “It depends on the light”. Hilarious!
Stay till after the credits….and let me know what you think.
Chau (Carol’s mom) is going to go see it this weekend too…so I’ll post her comments and watertowers, if she sends them to me.
