Update June 8, 2024: 13 years after this review we re-watched it (STREAMED) on Disney+. Still great…..still funny…..and Wolverine still tells them fuck-off in one of the best movie scenes EVER! 🙂

“X-Men First Class” is a prequel to the three original X-Men movies.  Like “Star Wars”, I am hoping there will be another prequel…maybe a trilogy?

“X-Men: First Class” shows how Raven / Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), and Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto (Michael Fassbender) and others first meet, become friends as mutant outcasts, and how the relationships and alliances between them evolve to what we know from the first movies.

Kevin Bacon (as Sebastian Shaw) is vintage Kevin Bacon…terrific.

Lots of action, mixed with a great story of friendship and trust makes this one great f-ing movie.  Speaking of the f-word, there is one, spoken by a surprise cameo in an absolutely terrific scene…..the whole audience cheered (including me!).

Funny one liners are peppered throughout the movie, my third favorite was spoken by Charles:  “…..I might go bald….”

Awesome movie….but watch the three movies first, it just works better.
