Elizabeth King (Patricia Hastie) is involved in a boating accident and is in a coma.  Her husband, Matt (George Clooney), watches over her and decides he will be a better husband when she gets better.

She never does.

Matt is now the primary care-giver for his youngest daughter (a task he is not familiar with) and pulls his oldest daughter out of a private school to help.

Oldest daughter, Alexandra (Shailene Woodley), informs the clueless Clooney that his beloved dying wife was cheating on him.  Ooops.

Clooney sets out to find the guy…

In addition to the tragic family drama, the long time Hawaiian King family is on the cusp of a decision to sell the last of the remaining family owned property on Kauai.  Clooney is the executor and final decision maker, but, he wants to abide by the majority family decision.

Plot lines converge on the beautiful paradise island of Kauai (where in real life, we have spent many, many wonderful days).

“The Descendents” is not really for kids. The story is slow moving, kind of depressing, and adult oriented. There are a few f-words and gestures.  The scenery is awesome.  George Clooney was up for Best Actor and I can see why…he is stupendous, but, the rest of the cast is awesome as well.  And Judy Greer shows up *sigh*.  :-))
