“The Dark Knight Rises” Movie Review

It has been eight years since the Batman rode off into the sunset, leaving Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) and his family with a lie.

The Batman is bad.

Gotham City has been at peace for these eight years, but, Gordon is restless….something is not right… a war is brewing, and no one believes him.  A body is found at the outflow of a sewer, Police Officer Blake (the awesome Joseph Gordon-Levitt) knows this person and talks to his brother who tells him there are jobs in the sewers.

A secret Army is hiring.

In the meantime, we meet master cat burglar, Selina (Anne Hathaway), as she steals a string of pearls from none other than the reclusive Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale).   Wayne Industries has stopped making money as they keep at least two inventions under wraps for the good of mankind.  One is a software program that can wipe out a person’s identity with the hit of the enter button (the cat woman wants this), and the other an energy source that can be used as a nuclear weapon if controlled by the wrong person.

The wrong person is the sewer Army leader Bane (Tom Hardy).

The war begins, and the Batman returns to fight evil.

I cannot say any more without ruining the movie (except that Marion Cotillard (“Midnight in Paris”) is the single most beautiful woman in the world, *sigh*).  Michael Caine and the incomparable Morgan Freeman are back and terrific.

Lots of cartoon-ish violence that might be too intense for the little kids, but, teens and adults alike would love it.  Lots of action, interesting new characters played by outstanding actors, and the plot lines introduced in the earlier two movies come together shockingly here.  No f-words, in fact I do not remember any cussing at all.

Batman.

Go to IMDb for more information.  We watched this movie at the Tracy, CA CineMark (the owner of the theater in Colorado, where our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of those who died at the hands of that one very very sick individual), where our poster is STILL UP!

Oh yeah…I think I caught a glimpse of Ward Hines from the Pittsburgh Steelers….watch closely.  🙂

Drive Safe!  Never Forget.
