“Playing for Keeps” Movie Review

ForCarol.com Movie Review 3-Watertowers (Brainless predictable fun, Judy Greer)

The biggest (very pleasant) surprise for me was that Judy Greer was in this move!  🙂

playing for keepsGerard Butler (George) is a former professional soccer player finding life difficult after retirement.  With no job, and divorced from Jessica Biel (as Stacie), he moves to Virginia to be close to his son Lewis (Noah Lomax).

Lewis plays soccer, and the coach is a real douche.  One day, George decides to show the kids a thing or two about soccer, and soon, he finds himself coaching the team and bedding the soccer moms (Catherine Zeta Jones, Judy Greer, Uma Thurman, and have I mentioned her already?  Judy Greer).  Lucky guy….but…for some strange reason, he is not happy.

Catherine Zeta Jones helps him get work, but, Jessica Biel is still in his heart….you know what happens, even though the movie makes you think it might not happen (spoiler alert…………) it does.

There is one curse word the s-word, no f-words, but, lots of “f-ing” going on between Judy Greer **sigh** andjudy greer the other soccer moms and Butler.  I am not sure kids or teens would enjoy it even though the soccer scenes are fun.  If you like Judy Greer (or that guy….oh yeah, Gerard Butler) you will enjoy it.  🙂

Good brainless fun movie, entertaining with a great cast (oh yeah Dennis Quaid is creepily good, and Judy Greer rocks).  “Playing for Keeps”  is better than the critics say….

Go to IMDb for more information.  We watched this at the Tracy, CA CineMark where our poster is STILL UP!  🙂
