“Identity Thief” Movie Review
Receiving a telephone call, Jason Bateman (as Sandy Bigelow Patterson) STUPIDLY gives the caller all his private information, including his Social Security Number. Days later his credit card is being denied, the police are arresting him, and he loses his job.
Identity theft is not a joke, lives can be ruined. You must protect yourself by NEVER giving out your personal information to ANYONE who calls you (or emails you).
If nothing else, “Identity Thief”, can raise awareness of identity theft. Bateman gets very little help from local law enforcement and has to take it upon himself to go to Florida (he lives in Denver) to “arrest” the imposter Sandy Bigelow Patterson (the fantastic Melissa McCarthy).
What follows is a week of hell, hilarity, and, ultimately, justice.
F-words and oddly uncomfortable sexual situations make this R-rated movie definitely not for kids. There were some teens having fun in the showing we were in, but, overall the audience was older. Bateman and McCarthy have a nice chemistry and, unless they are acting, seem to truly like each other.
Drive Safe! Never Forget.
