“Star Trek Into Darkness” Movie Review
Dammit Jim, this is a perfect movie.
The entire “new” cast has returned for this perfectly wonderful Star Trek. Perfect story, perfect mix of characters, humor, terror, and action all moving at warp speed. Tribbles and all.
John Harrison (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) is a super strong (and intelligent) terrorist. He blows up a secret research and development building then attacks the Star Fleet officers gathered in a meeting to figure out how to kill him.
James Kirk (Chris Pine) and the Enterprise crew are tasked with finding Harrison (who is hiding in Klingon territory). When they locate him, they are ordered to kill him by launching new top secret weapons that should be undetectable by the Klingons, thus killing the terrorist without starting a war.
Kirk has a better plan…but….we find out that deception reaches into the highest echelon of Star Fleet command which places Kirk and crew in mortal danger from all sides.
“Star Trek Into Darkness” is an incredibly good movie. 132 minutes that seemed like 10 minutes. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Bones), Simon Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Sulu), and Anton Yelchin (Checkov) are all back and are all perfectly cast. The special effects are perfect, the acting is perfect, the plot is perfect and the surprises are perfect. And yes, old Spock (Leonard Nimoy) makes an appearance.
“Dammit Jim, I’m a Doctor not a torpedo repairman” (or something like that). 🙂
Must see….in 2D. Oh, parts of this movie were filmed at Lawrence Livermore National Lab where yours truly worked for 11 years.
Drive Safe! Never Forget.
