“Mud” Movie Review
Mud (Matthew McConaughey) is a drifter wanted by the authorities for the murder of the boyfriend of the woman he loves, Juniper (Reese Witherspoon).
Two boys (Tye Sheridan as Ellis, and Jacob Lofland as Neckbone) ride their boat to an island where they claim a boat in a tree as their own. They climb into the boat only to find out that someone is living there. On their way back to their boat, they meet Mud.
Using the boys as his communication line to the world, Mud reaches out to Juniper who agrees to meet him in a few days so they can leave together.
In the meantime, the boys find out that the authorities are searching for Mud, and we, the audience, find out that a posse formed by the father of the man who Mud shot is out to kill him.
Mud is good to the boys as they help him prepare the tree-bound boat for use on the river.
But shit is about to happen…
Matthew McConaughey is outstanding as are Tye Sheridan and Jacob Lofland. Reese has a rather small part. “Mud” is a wonderful movie. A perfect study of a man with problems but with a heart for those he cares for.
