Kate (Olivia Wilde) and Luke (Jake Johnson) work together in a local brewery and are best friends. Jill (Anna Kendrick) is Luke’s significant other, while Chris (Ron Livingston) is Kate’s significant other.
A natural pairing of personalities takes place while away. But not in the way you expect. Kate and Luke have so much in common, and are so comfortable with each other, they pair up and drink the days, and nights, away. Chris and Jill, both more subdued, go on hikes and talk…..and kiss.
From that fateful weekend, each of the friends lives change forever.
“Drinking Buddies” is a far different movie than I expected. Subdued with witty dialogue and opposite sex chemistry. The friendship depicted between Kate and Luke is interesting. They are truly comfortable with each other (I suspect Wilde and Johnson like each other in real life) and the audience feels the attraction.
Not for kids (lots and lots of beer drinking). And if you like action, you won’t like this movie…too subdued. It is like the camera is rolling on four people’s everyday lives. The acting is not acting as much as living….very good.
Lori was bored, I enjoyed it, I rated it based on our average.
