“I Love You, Man” Movie Review
Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) and Zooey Rice (Rashida Jones) are planning their wedding.
Unfortunately, Peter has no guy friends to be his best man since all of his friends have been women. This situation needs to be rectified and the race is on to find a man-friend for Peter before the wedding.
After several attempts, Peter (a real estate agent) is holding an open house at Lou Ferrigno’s when he meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel). Sydney goes to open houses to eat the food and meet women. He is a guys guy (rude, crude, and not afraid to ask about Peter’s sex life and the details of it) where Peter is more sensitive and private. A study in contrasts that works out.
Peter and Sydney both love music (Rush) and jam every chance they get in Sydney’s man cave. They hang by Venice Beach, ride the motor scooter, sing, drink, laugh and, generally, do what friends do.
Zooey is jealous. She feels like she is losing Peter.
Will they get married?
“I Love You, Man” is a rude, crude, yet, thoughtful movie about two wildly different personalities who become fast friends. Not for kids as there is a lot of candid talk about blow jobs, oral sex, penis’s, masturbation, etc. But it is fun, and Paul Rudd is terrific…..his 007 bit is fantastic.
