3.5-Watertowers ForCarol.com movie reviews(Older Actor Facing Insanity)

Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton) played superhero “Birdman” for three movies. He turned down a forth movie and has since lived his life in relative obscurity (hmmm, think real life: Batman and Keaton).

birdman blogTrying to revive his career, Riggan writes, directs, stars in, and funds a play on Broadway. The pressure of producing a play on Broadway increase the latent mental illness within Riggan as, more and more, he remembers his days as Birdman.

Eventually, insanity takes over as Riggan fully embraces his Birdman alter ego.

“Birdman” is a strange movie with outstanding acting from Keaton, Emma Stone (who plays his daughter, Sam), and Edward Norton (actor and fellow whacked out weirdo, Mike). Definitely not for kids.
