4-Watertowers ForCarol.com Movie Review(Dentist Sees Dead People)

Dr. Bertram Pincus (Ricky Gervais) is a people hating dentist.  He relishes the time when he can stuff cotton in the patients mouth so he does not have to listen to them. He is mean, arrogant, and lonely.

ghost town blogTaking a day off from work, he goes to the hospital for a simple colonoscopy. When he is done, he walks outside and does his best to ignore as many people as he can. He insults one nurse, and is suddenly followed by a horde of people. Apparently, that nurse was a ghost, still around because she has some unfinished business, and the horde of people are also ghosts. We find out later that they are seeking his help to help them complete their unfinished business. But, Pincus wants no part of that.

Frank (Greg Kinnear) is married to Gwen (Tea Leoni) but is renting an apartment for he and his girlfriend. Unfortunately, an air conditioner falls from a window high above him as he is walking. He steps out of the way……right into the path of a speeding bus.

Frank, now a ghost, seeks Pincus’s help stop Gwen from marrying someone who Frank thinks is a jerk.

What happens next is both hilarious and touching. “Ghost Town” is a much better movie than I thought it would be.  Gervais, Kinnear, and Leoni shine. Not for kids.
