Movie Review: “The Road Within”

4-Watertowers ForCarol.com Movie Review(Three Friends on a Road Trip)

Vincent (Robert Sheehan) suffers from Tourette Syndrome.

the road within blogHis mother just died, and his politician father, Robert (Robert Patrick), has no patience for him so he enrolls Vincent in an experimental facility for those with neurological disorders. There he meets Marie (Zoe Kravitz) an anorexic and his roommate, Alex (Dev Patel) who has OCD.

Vincent has his mothers ashes that he wants to scatter in the Pacific Ocean. But he can’t drive and his father does not want to go with him, and now, he is in this facility.  Arrrghhh.

Not to worry.  Marie has an idea.

Stealing the facility director’s car…..the unlikely trio of friends embark on a road trip to the ocean. Little did they know how difficult that trip would be, and, ultimately, how rewarding.

“The Road Within” is an interesting movie that shows that disabilities need not stop anyone from doing what they want to do.  Each of the friends supports the other in ways no one could have imagined had they stayed in the facility.

Not for kids as there is some nudity, sex, and a lot of f-words.  The actors are all terrific.
