“Divergent Series: Insurgent” Movie Review
200 years ago, the only surviving humans left on earth built a community inside a wall around what used to be Chicago.
At a certain age, each person was tested and assigned a task within the community based on their personalities: Dauntless are brave, Amity are peaceful, Erudite are intelligent, Abnegation are selfless, and Candor are honest.” However, some people diverge from these norms: Our heroine, Tris (Shailene Woodley), is one such divergent.
Picking up where “Divergent” leaves off: Tris, Four (Theo James), Caleb (Ansel Elgort), and Peter (Miles Teller) were granted sanctuary with the peace loving Amity faction. But, Erudite leader, Jeanine (Kate Winslet), continues searching for the divergents. She wants them contained, as they are dangerous, but she also needs a divergent to unlock a message contained in a mysterious box left by the founders 200 hundred years ago.
Unfortunately, not every divergent is powerful enough to unlock the box and die trying.
“Insurgent” follows Tris and Four as they discover more about themselves and the society they have been born into. Needless to say….all is not what it seems to be.
“Insurgent” is book #2 in the Divergent series. As such it is still developing the characters, scenes, and plot lines for the next two books / movies. That said, the intrigue and mystery is addictive with plenty of action. Good for most of the family, but, leave the littlest ones at home because of the violence.
