(The Not Spectacular Now)

Sutter (Miles Teller) is the high school flirt and go-to-guy for alcohol. His most recent girlfriend caught him smoozing with someone new and dumped his ass. Devastated, Sutter “did what any gentleman would do….he got a brand new girlfriend“.
Aimee (Shailene Woodley) is a “good girl”. Never in trouble, never had a boyfriend, does her mother’s paper route when her mother has been up partying the night before, smart, good grades, accepted to a university in Philadelphia.
Until she met, and fell for, Sutter.
Now, following Sutter’s lead, Aimee drinks alcohol from a flask and otherwise partakes in non-good-girl stuff. But, Sutter does help her make the decision to go to college, and Aimee helps Sutter realize he is a total dick.
“The Spectacular Now” is one hour and thirty five minutes long. The first hour is deadly boring……two teens talking….incessantly. When Sutter’s estranged Dad, Tommy (Kyle Chandler), shows up 35 minutes from the end the movie picks ups and saves it from a 2 WaterTower rating. Want to see a couple of good movies with Teller and Woodley?? Watch “Divergent” and “Insurgent”. Skip this one, unless you need some boredom or really love these two or Kyle Chandler (like we do). Not for kids.
