Max Burdett (Pierce Brosnan) and Lola Cirillo (Salma Hayek) are master jewel thieves who have already stolen the first of three “Napoleon” diamonds (but were never proven to have done so).
The FBI is in charge of delivering the second “Napoleon” diamond, worth millions, to an LA museum.
But, FBI agent Stan Lloyd (Woody Harrelson) is afraid. He has dealt with Max in the past and knows his capabilities. Arriving at the museum with the diamond, Stan’s fears come true as Max remotely controls the FBI’s SUV….stealing the diamond. Two down….one to go.
Fast forward to the Bahamas where Max and Lola have “retired” in paradise. Blissfully happy, the couple plans their wedding while Lola builds a deck where they can watch the sunset every night for the rest of their lives.
Until…..Stan pops in to make sure they do not steal the third “Napoleon” diamond that is on display on a cruise ship docked nearby.
How convenient.
Action and intrigue follow as the cat-and-mouse game between Stan, Max, and Lola reaches a pinnacle. Do they succeed in stealing the last Napoleon diamond?
“After the Sunset” is terrific fun, and the setting is paradise. Brosnan and Hayek are great together and Harrelson is equally terrific. Not for kids as there are some f-words, violence, and sexual encounters.
