“Inside Man” Movie Review
Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) is a hostage negotiator under investigation for possibly stealing $140,000.
A bank robbery in downtown Manhattan turns into a hostage situation with somewhere between 20 and 50 hostages taken.
Being the only negotiator on duty, Frazier is reluctantly assigned to the case.
Dalton Russell (Clive Owen) is the mastermind of the bank robbery, and feels he has planned the perfect bank robbery. He demands two buses and a plane to take his team and the hostages away with the stolen money.
Frazier is not having any of that, and attempts to wear Russell down with delay tactics meant to encourage communication. Russell, however, is not your typical bank robber. He knows the tactics used and is counting on them, because he has an ulterior motive hidden in an unlisted safe deposit box being used by the owner of the bank, Arthur Case (Christopher Plummer).
Frazier figures out that he has been duped, and…..all hell breaks loose.
“Inside Man” is an excellent crime based thriller with two very smart individuals dueling with their intellect rather than weaponry. Not for kids.
