Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen) has left the Imperial Forces as the scientist in charge of building the Death Star and settled into a quiet life of farming with his wife and young daughter, Jyn (Felicity Jones).
But, the Imperial Army needs him back because he is the only one capable of finishing the job. The Imperial Army sends Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) to get him and kill his wife and child (no need for distractions….).
Jyn has been taught what to do in case of emergency. She hides and is saved by Rebel extremist, Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker).
15 years later, Jyn is helping the Rebel cause and the Death Star is nearing completion. The Rebels need to destroy the Death Star, but, they have limited knowledge of it so they can launch an attack.
Jyn leads a team to steal the Death Star plans.
“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is a one time movie (when you see it, you will know why) filling in the gap as to how the plans for the Death Star end up in Rebel hands……..which ultimately leads to it’s destruction by the Rebel forces and Luke Skywalker.
Exciting movie for the whole family. But be aware that George R.R. Martin would be proud of the death count.
