Claire Kubik (Ashley Judd) is a lawyer with a high powered firm and happily married to Tom Kubik (Jim Caviezel…..Reese).
One night, their house is vandalized and the police take fingerprints.
Walking around Union Square at Christmas time (something Lori and I have done a zillion times) the FBI surround Tom and Claire and arrest Tom. The charge being high crimes.
Tom is suspected of killing 9 villagers in El Salvador when he was in the Army. He claims he was framed, and, fearing prison, he deserted the Army, changed his name, and got married.
Claire decides to defend her husband in military court, and, with the help of ex-JAG lawyer, Charles Grimes (Morgan Freeman), they set out to prove Tom’s innocence.
“High Crimes” unfolds like a book, in fact, it is based on a novel by one of my favorite authors (and Facebook friend), Joseph Finder. Terrific twisty turny thriller! The last 20 minutes are shocking….vintage Finder. Not for kids.
