“Dallas Buyers Club” Movie Review

Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey) is an electrician, cowboy, loves parties, women…..and has AIDS. The year is 1985 when AIDS was new and treatments were just becoming available.
Doctors gave Ron 30 days to live.
With that deadline in mind, Ron set out to find a cure for his AIDS and, in the process, helped many others by starting an underground Buyers Club that provided unlimited access to the latest medication for a membership of $400 per month.
Ron’s stubbornness and positive attitude helped him live for 7 years after his initial diagnosis. In those years, Ron left a lasting impact on AIDS treatment for future generations.
“Dallas Buyers Club” is a terrific movie with Oscar winning performances from Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor) and Jared Leto (Best Supporting Actor, who is absolutely stupendous). Not for kids, and not for a happy date night as it is gritty, real, and disturbing.
