“The Legend of Tarzan” Movie Review

John Clayton / Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) and Jane (Margot Robbie) are happily living the royal life in London, having left their African home 8 years ago.

The British government asks Tarzan to return to his Congo homeland to investigate purported atrocities by King Leopold of Belguim’s envoy, Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz).

In addition to enslaving the natives of the Congo, Rom has promised to deliver Tarzan to a native chief for killing the chief’s son many years ago.

With the help, and encouragement (Clayton initially refused to go), of American diplomat, George Washington Williams (Samuel L. Jackson), Tarzan and Jane decide to return home and attempt to stop Rom.

“The Legend of Tarzan” is an exciting action movie with spectacular scenery and computer graphic animals. Skarsgard is ripped (it took him 5 months of training, and hopes the next Tarzan requires him to gain weight and eat cake) and he and Robbie are great together. Jackson has a much larger part than we expected and we root for all three to defeat tyranny. OK for most of the family.
