“La La Land” Movie Review

Mia (Emma Stone) is a struggling actress and playwright working in a cafe near, or in, a movie studio.  Her dream is to write a play that stars her as a one woman show.

Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) is a struggling jazz pianist working as a lounge piano player.  His dream is to open his own jazz club.

The two briefly meet in a traffic jam in Los Angeles.  Seb honks his horn as he passes Mia.  Mia flips him the bird as he goes by.  Way to go Mia!

In the next few weeks, Mia and Seb’s paths cross multiple times and one thing leads to another as they fall in love.  Unfortunately, all is not smooth as they pursue their dreams with each others help.

“La La Land” is a bright, primary color, movie filled with great songs, dancing, and a plot familiar to all: boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl pursue their dreams and lose touch, boy and girl reconnect and love persists.  Or does it?

I loved it, even though Lori did not.  It’s the jazz, the colors, Oscar winning Emma Stone, and the  unique cinematography and direction.  Wow!
