3.5-Watertowers ForCarol.com movie reviews

Alice (Reese Witherspoon) and her two girls, Isabel (Lola Flanery) and Rosie (Eden Grace Redfield), move back into Alice’s house (that she inherited from her famous filmmaker dad) in LA after leaving her husband, Austen (Michael Sheen).

Three struggling filmmakers, Harry (Pico Alexander), George (Jon Rudnitsky), and Teddy (Nat Wolff), are on the verge of selling their very good short to a studio to make it into a full-length movie.

A chance meeting at a bar while the guys are celebrating near-success and Alice is celebrating her 40th birthday find Harry and Alice hooking up, and thanks to Alice’s actress mom, Lillian (Candice Bergen), the guys take up residence in Alice’s guest house while they finish the script for the full-length movie, and she starts her new interior decorating business.

It turns out to be an ideal situation where Alice has sex (Harry), and tech support (Teddy), while Isabel finds a mentor (George).

The guys are fully integrated in the family’s life when……Dad shows up and messes everything up.

“Home Again” is a fun rom-com with a September – April romance between older Alice and youngster Harry.  OK for the older kids and adults in the family.  But, really, the kids will be bored out of their skulls.
