Taking place in 1987, “Bumblebee” is a prequel to the Transformers series.
The Decepticons have defeated the Autobots on Cybertron. The only hope for the Autobots is to flee and regroup at a later date.
Optimus Prime sends B-127 to an out of the way, relatively unknown, planet to hide and wait for the rebuilding while keep it safe from Decepticons: Earth.
B-127 lands right in the middle of a military installation where he comes under attack by gung-ho soldiers led by Agent Burns (John Cena).
Everyone is injured then two Decepticons arrive to nicely ask B-127 where Optimus Prime happens to be hiding. Not answering, B-127’s ability to talk is taken away, is thrown off a cliff, and left for dead.

Well, B-127 is not dead, but, hiding out as a junk VW Beetle when Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) finds it and takes the Beetle home to fix it up. She is quite surprised when the Beetle transforms into B-127 who she renames: Bumblebee.
The rest is history.
“Bumblebee” is a fun, action packed, sometimes tissue needy, prequel where we learn about our favorite transformer and the history leading to the Transformer movies.
My favorite line: “You could have been a Camaro this whole time?”
