Movie Review: “The Commuter”

Ex-NYPD cop, Michael MacCauley (Liam Neeson) has been commuting by train, to his insurance sales job, from Tarrytown, NY to New York City everyday for the last 10 years.

Same train to work, same train back home. Day after day after day after day……ho-hum. The life of a commuter. At least he reads decent books.

Michael lives day by day. making very little money. His son is heading off to college and the tuition needs to be paid. Then, one day, his boss calls him into the office and tells him he no longer has a job. WTF…..

Newly laid off at 60 years old, Michael hits the bar (been there done that!) then grabs his usual train home.

On that train ride he meets Joanna (Vera Farmiga) who gives him a task should he choose to accept it. In the bathroom is $100,000 that could be his if he identifies a person (a witness to a murder) and places a GPS tracking device on this persons bag. The only information he has to go on is that person is getting off at Cold Spring.

Easy for an ex-cop, right?

Stupidly, Michael grabs the money (he is out of work after all) which sets the movie into action. Tensions rise, people die, and……

……to see what happens, you will have to rent the movie.

“The Commuter” is an absolutely terrific thriller and, as TracyReaderDad.com, I know thrillers. 🙂
