“About a Boy” Movie Review

Will Freeman (Hugh Grant) has no job and spends his time chasing women, watching TV, and….hmmmm, that’s about it. He does nothing (thanks to a Christmas song written by his father and royalties).

Dating a single mom, Will figures out that single moms are horny as heck, so he decides to find more. Being 2002, there are fewer ways to find beautiful single moms so he joins a group and concocts a story about him being dumped and left with his 2 year old son.

The women in the group eat it up, and he dates one of them.

Then he meets 12 year old Marcus Brewer (Nicolas Hoult) and his suicidal mother, Fiona (Toni Collette). Because of them, Will finds the good in his heart, and…..

“About a Boy” is a great movie. Lots of fun, heartwarming and life affirming. The cast is terrific. OK for the whole family, but, kids won’t like it.
