“Dolittle” Movie Review and Trailer

Dr. John Dolittle (Robert Downey Jr.) met and married the love of his life, explorer Lily (Kasia Smutniak). Together they traveled the world and Lilly documented their travels, and her previous discoveries, in a diary.

Leaving John behind for an exploration, Lily’s boat encountered bad weather and she died in the shipwreck…the only item found, by her father, was her diary.

After Lily’s death, John shut himself off from the world and lived only with his friends the animals who he understood and talked to.

One day, many years later, two teens happened upon John’s estate.

One, Tommy Stubbins (Harry Collett), was there with an injured squirrel, and the other, Lady Rose (Carmel Laniado), was there to seek his medical expertise to help the dying Queen Victoria (Jessie Buckley).

Dolittle gladly helps the squirrel and reluctantly visits the Queen. After he sees the Queen he knows that she has been poisoned and that he needs to find, and bring back, a special flower that resides on a secret island that only Lily’s diary has the clues to.

Road trip!! 🙂

“Dolittle” is a fun, action packed, movie that is at times hilarious and heartwarming. Mainly for kids, it has a few adult one-liners that you have to concentrate to hear. The animal CGI effects are terrific and the guest stars voicing them are, for the most part, superstars. See the picture below.

Don’t listen to the haters, I have no idea what drives them (or if they even watched the movie), but, “Dolittle” is a fun movie for the whole family to enjoy.
