OK, this is a very difficult movie to summarize and review without spoiling it, but,…..here goes:
Harlen Thrombey (Christopher Plumber) is an 80-something mystery writer who is in the process of disowning his (asshole entitled) family members, and, writing them out of his will.
Harlen needs medication and his part-time registered nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) makes a mistake with his medication and can’t find the antidote in her medical bag.
Harlen dies.
Investigating the mystery writers death, Crime Consultant Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), questions each of the family members (ala Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot) and finds multiple suspects with multiple motives…even though we know Marta did it.
But did she? Of course she did…we saw it. WTF.
Well……for 2 hours and 10 minutes of riveting mystery the audience is glued to their seats trying to understand what Blanc is thinking and where he is going with his investigation.
Then we find out…..and the movie ends.
Wow!
“Knives Out” is a TERRIFIC murder / suicide mystery. Lots of great actors….I mean: Jamie Lee Curtis, Captain America, Don Johnson, Toni Colette, Michael Shannon and even Frank Oz (Yoda!!!!, Cookie Monster, Grover, Bert……).
Must see.
