“Brittany Runs a Marathon” Movie Review and Trailer

Fun Movie to Stream while waiting for the world to settle down. This one is on Amazon Prime.

Brittany (Jillian Bell) is the life of the party.

Staying out until dawn and coming home drunk and high with her friend and roommate, Gretchen (Alice Lee) is a normal occurrence.

But, Brittany wants a better high and more of it.

Finding a Doctor on Yelp, Dr. Falloway (Patch Darragh), she goes for a physical exam and explains that she needs adderall. Not buying the adderall argument…..the good doctor tells her she needs to lose 45 to 50 pounds, eat better, stop drinking and drugging, get at least 8 hours of sleep per night….and EXERCISE!

Shocked that someone actually is telling her the truth, Brittany seeks the help (well…..kinda) of her neighbor, Catherine (Michaela Watkins), who happens to be a runner.

Catherine tells her to take it one small goal at a time.

One day, Brittany runs around the block. Then the next day…another block, then another, until one day she joins Catherine’s running group for a 2 mile run when she meets fellow beginning runner, Seth (Mica Stock).

Then Catherine, Seth, and Brittany decide to train for the next NYC Marathon the following November. Whooohooo……

To see what happens, you will need to watch the movie.

“Brittany Runs a Marathon” is a great motivational movie based on a true story (we meet the real Brittany at the end credits).

And it hits home in a big way…..in my 68 plus years on earth, many of them overweight, I have run over one hundred 10k’s (6.2 miles) and two full San Francisco Marathons (26.2 miles in 1991 and 1997). Even though a bum ligament is stopping me from running now (I can probably get it fixed, but…..). I still go out to walk 3 to 4 times a week! 🙂

1991 SF Marathon 13.1 mile mark

FYI….I went to watch a friend run the NYC Marathon a zillion years ago. I saw Alberto Salazar!
