“The Aeronauts” Movie Review and Trailer

James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) is a scientist in a new field called meteorology.

James wants to predict the weather so he can save lives, but, his peers think his ideas about meteorology are stupid and not worth funding a balloon trip into the atmosphere to collect data for his research. “Who wants to predict the weather?” (I heard the same nearly 30 years ago “Who wants to be seen in a video call?”…..so stupid, not worth our time or effort…..hmmmmmm, coronavirus, duh).

Well, James persisted (as did I, see TechyMike.com) and the world is now a better place because he and balloonist Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) took a balloon to over 36,000 feet while James took data, learned a ton about meteorology, and……

….almost died.

Amelia was amazing….keeping her cool when oxygen deprivation and freezing temperatures hit James (big surprise to him, by the way, he thought it would get warmer the higher he went…..knowledge gained).

Amelia climbed the balloon to open the gas vent. Wow.

To see what happens, you will have to watch the movie.

“The Aeronauts” is based on the true story of Scientist and Meteorologist James Glaisher and his record breaking ascent in a balloon…for knowledge. Fasten your seat belts as it is a WILD exciting ride. Whew….:-)

We streamed this on Amazon Prime in glorious 4k UHD. Talk about scary! Yikes, it was like we were there!
