Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) is a journalist writing for Esquire magazine.
He pulls no punches when he interviews someone, and writes what he learns. Unfortunately, his style (and personality) have given him a reputation, and no one wants to be interviewed by him.
Except one person.
Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks) has a wildly successful kids TV show and seems to be a genuinely nice guy who says yes to the interview.

Before travelling to Pittsburg, PA to interview Mr. Rogers, Lloyd gets in a fight with his estranged father, Jerry (Chris Cooper), at his sisters wedding (!!) and gets kinda beat up.

Mr. Rogers knows Lloyd has issues that run deeper than the bruises and cuts on his face as they start the interview.
But he takes an immediate liking to Lloyd even though Lloyd is being a dick.
To see what happens…..you will have to stream the movie. 🙂
“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” is a superb movie that is definitely not a children story (like we thought it would be) as it deals with strained father-son relationships, drinking, depression, anger, and…..death.
Needless to say, Mr. Rogers is the nice guy we all thought he was when we were watching his show.
We streamed this movie on Fandango Now.
