“Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga” Movie Review and Trailer

Growing up in a small town in Iceland….

Lars Erickssong (Will Ferrell) wanted to sing in the Eurovision Song Contest since he was a little boy. And his “extremely handsome” father, Erick (Pierce Brosnan), always thought that was a stupid goal.

His lifelong friend (Lars thinks she is NOT his sister), Sigrit Ericksdottir (Rachel McAdams), is the real singing talent, and oddly enough, as a grown up, she loves Lars.

Everyone tells her to dump Lars as a singing partner so she can spread her wings and soar.

She refuses, and together they form a group: Fire Saga, which sees minor success with the catchy tune: “Ja Ja Ding Dong” (see the Youtube video below) which everyone at the local bar wants to hear….over and over and over again.

This year, Fire Saga is one of twelve bands competing to sing, for Iceland, at Eurovision in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Do they make it?

To find out, you will have to stream this movie on Netflix. 🙂

Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga” is a FANTASTIC movie! One of the best so far this year, and clearly among the best in the last….well…..forever! It’s pretty cool that goofy, quirky, Will Ferrell wrote and starred in such a damn good (quirky goofy terrific) movie. Rachel McAdams always shines, and she does so again, but brighter than ever. And….what can I say about 007? Pierce Brosnan is as curmudgeonly as humanly possible, as well as being the father of half the kids in this small Iceland town…….And Demi Lovato can sing rings around anyone…WOW!

So fun!

This is a must see movie in these dark times of orange bigot rule.

Here is the #1 song this year: Ja Ja Ding Dong (Translation: Ya Ya Ding Dong) 😉
