After his father walked out on the family, Timmy Failure (Winslow Fegley) enters a world of make believe as a coping mechanism.
He ignores his school work, he is in 5th grade and his collaborators do not want to work with him because he brings their grades down. He acts up in class, draws pictures on his test sheets (instead of taking the test), and his mother has been to see the teacher 11 times for bad behavior and grades!
BUT…..
He started his own detective agency that has one employee….an imaginary 1,500 pound polar bear named Total. The name of his detective agency is Total Failure, Inc.
Although Timmy thinks he is the best detective in the world, he really sucks….at everything…..and he seriously needs therapy, which he does not get except for a few sessions with Mr. Jenkins (Craig Robinson).
He prides himself in being “different” which is a good thing, but, in fact his definition of being “different” is escaping reality….which is NOT a good thing.
To see what happens, if you really want to, you can stream this movie on Disney+.
“Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made” is a disturbing, sometimes funny, look at how divorce / abandonment can effect a young kid, and how mental illness can be ignored. Not a fan of this movie.
