“The Stand In” Movie Review

“Hit me where it hurts”

Candy Black (Drew Barrymore) is a famous comedienne who became super successful doing physical stunts for laughs.

She is also a drug addict and an asshole to those around her, not to mention miserable and unhappy.

Her stand-in, Paula (Drew Barrymore), is an aspiring actress herself, but, seems to be forever stuck in Candy’s shadow.

One day, Candy flips-out in a drug-induced rage (that was caught on camera) ruining her career, and to make matters worse the IRS clobbered her for tax evasion.

Steve

Sick of everything……Candy went into seclusion and for the next 10 years learned…….woodworking…….where she “met” a guy online, Steve (Michael Zegen), who appreciates Candy, now Kathy, for herself, not who, she is or was.

One thing leads to another and homeless Paula is needed to pick up the parts of Candy’s life the Candy does not want to deal with (she kinda likes staying home and woodworking). They decide to split any money made.

Problem is…..

Oh, to see what happens, you can watch the movie on Netflix.

“The Stand In” is another low budget quirky movie that, after the first 10 minutes or so, is really FUN! Drew Barrymore looks just like Drew Barrymore. How’d they do that? 😉 Not for kids as the f-word flies a zillion times! Be careful what you wish for. Be true to yourself!
