Movie Box Office Results September 17 – 19 2021

Again, I’m torn. It’s nice to see Shang-Chi doing so well, but, I’m wondering if the measurement for a movies success should be ONLY attendance in the theaters? And at what price does that bring over and beyond monetary cost to the consumer? Like their health! I suspect Disney only cares about one thing…it’s own bottom line from the theaters. What happened to Disney+ where we would have gladly handed over $30 to watch a newly released movie at home (and have several times now). But, hey, Disney, now, weeks later…..we will not pay a dime over our normal $7.99 per month to watch Shang-Chi.

Looking at Black Widow, it has made, so far: $183 million in theaters and over $120 million on Disney+. $303 million domestic.

Shang-Chi has so far made $177 million in theaters and $0 on Disney+. Will it make another $126 million in theaters? I doubt it. But it could have easily beat that with a Disney+ and theater release.
