Rex Simpson (Emma Roberts) always loved space and designing and building gadgets. Her manatee gate is a shining example of her ingenuity.
Rex was destined for bigger things, then…..her mother died…..and her plans for going to college and becoming an astronaut went up in flames.
Years later, tired of her bartending job, Rex declared to her best friend, Nadine (Poppy Liu), that she is going to apply to the astronaut training program at NASA in Houston.

Unfortunately she is not even close to qualifying and her letter and online application are lacking.
Nadine, unknown to Rex, “fixes” the letter and app, and……
Rex was accepted!

Oh, to see what happens you can STREAM this movie on Amazon Prime. 🙂
“Space Cadet” is a fun movie that is both hilarious and heartwarming. I loved the science and technology that was touched on throughout the movie, and Rex’s gadgets are really cool….especially that manatee gate.
We LOVED it!
Trivia: Parts of this movie were filmed in what used to be the AT&T Bell Laboratories building in Holmdel, NJ. Lori and I both worked there for a few years! I’d tell you what we worked on (Accunet Switched 56), but…..zzzzzzzzz.
