“The Old Guard” Movie Review and Trailer

Joe, Booker, Andy, Nicky, Nile

Andy (Charlize Theron) is the leader, and oldest, of an immortal team of soldiers. Over the ages, she and her team (Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), and Nicky (Luca Marinelli)) have fought for good (or sometimes evil depending on the century) and always live to fight again.

Even though they do not really understand the good they are doing, they are doing great things and saving millions of lives.

But….living “forever” is hard work. Luckily….they are not really immortal as, over time, they will revert to being mortal and will eventually die.

Andy is at that point now.

Meeting with Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) about a possible gig saving girls who have been taken hostage, the team decides to do the job, only to find out it was a set-up. They are killed but come back to life and wipe out the killers.

The immortals vow to find Copley who is working with an evil pharma dude, Dudley…..errrr, Merrick (Harry Melling), who wants the immortals DNA to make money, and oh, yeah, maybe help mankind.

On the trip to Paris…..they all have a dream about a new member, Nile (Kiki Layne), which takes Andy to Afghanistan to bring Nile into the fold, while the rest of the team heads to Paris to find Copley.

The immortals are in danger, and might not survive.

To see what happens, you can stream this movie on Netflix.

“The Old Guard” is an excellent, tense, interesting, violent (a bit bloody but not gory), movie about doing good….forever. Great cast. Not for kids, or the squeamish. I loved it!
