Syracuse (Colin Farrell) is a hardworking fisherman recovering from addiction while helping his ex-wife support their young daughter, who happens to be wheelchair-bound with kidney failure, Annie (Alison Barry).
One day while trolling with his nets, Syracuse finds a woman entangled in the nets! Yikes!
Ondine (Alicja Bachleda) is barely alive but, Syracuse revives her then lets her live in his late mother’s cabin.
Annie thinks Ondine is a Selkie (“seal folk” who when out of the water take on human form). These magical creatures have certain powers when on land…one of them being granting a wish.
Ondine does not deny that she may be a selkie and……

“Ondine” is a fantasy drama that is super fun to watch, if a bit hard to understand Colin Farrell. The cast is terrific and the plot had us believing in selkies……and we still do. 🙂
