Movie Review: “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”

After the evnts of the last movie, Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey), has been banished to the mushroom planet.

For 268 days (or so) he has been planning is escape while building a device that will harness the power of one Sonic (Ben Schwartz) hair and, hopefully, bring those who want Sonic to the mushroom planet so he can escape.

Well……the plan worked!

And Dr. Robotnik is now free and working with Knuckles (Idris Elba) to find Sonic and, more importantly for Robotnik, to find the sacred emerald that has the power to control the world and destroy civilizations.

Oh, oh.

Luckily, Sonic finds he has a new, techy savvy, friend in Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessy) who has travelled to Montana to warn Sonic that Knuckles and Robotnik are on their way, then stays to help!

When the badies arrive, the fun, and the action begin, and…….

“Sonic the Hedgehog 2” is super fun with lots of action and some cool new characters (for those of us who are just watching the movies). Jim Carrey is amazing!

I love it that the movie pays homage to many other movies from Indiana Jones to the MCU and everything in-between.

It gets edgy when Jim Carrey digs at the orange idiot when he says “both sides had good people” after a particularly horrific battle. We all know Jim’s feelings about that idiot.
